Bezos divorce could be interesting family law case to follow

Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, and his wife of 25 years, Mackenzie, have recently announced they are getting divorced. This may be an interesting family law case for Georgia readers to follow as it could be the most expensive divorce in history. Technically, Mrs. Bezos could have an equal claim to all assets earned over the course of the marriage, but it is not immediately clear if she will pursue it.

Georgia family law cases difficult for fathers too

In Georgia and elsewhere, family courts are handling child custody matters differently. Several decades ago, it was typical for mothers to win primary custody of a child. The approach has changed dramatically in recent years, and now many fathers have asserted their parental rights about family law issues.

Father's concern becomes a matter of family law

Co-parenting can be challenging under any circumstances, but particularly when two parents find themselves at odds. Recently, a  disagreement over child support and child custody caused one father to take action when he saw evidence that his child was in imminent danger. In Georgia and elsewhere, matters of family law can often become contentious, but disputes must be handled through the legal system.

Nonpayment of child support is a matter of family law

For Georgia residents who may not be familiar with the term, child support is money paid by one parent to another to ensure that any children they share have their financial needs met as they grow. When a parent fails to make timely and accurate payments to the best of their ability, a child may suffer, and the other parent may be unfairly burdened with financial strain. Non-payment of child support can become a matter of family law

Addiction can become a matter of family law

Georgia families may find themselves facing a problem that continues to plague the nation as a whole. Addiction, considered by many medical professionals to be a disease, can sometimes become a matter of family law. If a person suffering from drug addiction has children, the children may be negatively affected by the actions of the parent, and other family members may face the difficult decision of attempting to take custody of a child.

Musician's lavish lifestyle becomes a matter of family law

Georgia residents may be among the millions of Americans that have a legal issue within their own family. Issues like divorce, adoption and child support are some of the many situations that make their way to family law court. Child support can seem like a tricky issue, because even when an order has been put in place by a court, a change in either parent's income can bring about a need for a review.
